Rediscovery of Arthashastra

It is interesting to note that the now famed Arthashastra was lost and forgotten after the 12th century. It is supposed to have been written by Kautilya, who was the advisor to Changragupta Maurya.

This text was renowned during the Classical times, but was considered lost for a long time. However, it was rediscovered by a scholar working on translating some ancient manuscripts at the Oriental Research Institute Mysore in 1905.

Since then, this text has become more popular than ever.
