In history, one can observe certain trends, which once started, keep getting repeated over several times.

For example, one of the earliest bank bailouts occurred in 1984. This started a trend of governments treating certain types of entities as “too big to fail“. This has continued till recently during the late 2000’s recession.

The same can be observed in technology. For example, the emergence of social networks is a trend that emerged in the early 2000s and has really picked up steam in the past few years.

It appears that once a set of humans start doing a certain type of activity, the same thing is imitated by several other groups. Once it reaches a critical state, there is no holding back such a trend.
